Position Statement revisions - October 1, 2007

Committee to Elect Bob Brower
P.O. Box 22918
Carmel, California 93922

October 1, 2007

Dear Supporter:

I am requesting your support and vote for District 5 – Monterey Peninsula Water Management District.

Water challenges are significant in our area. Previous efforts have improved our water availability; however some of those efforts have now reached their maximum contribution. My opponent, a spokesperson for the Sierra Club, will certainly have the support of all of those who stand in the way of the solution. I support the following positions in our district:

1. A renewable, replaceable water supply (Desal) that reduces the amount of water that we are currently taking from both the Carmel Valley Watershed and the Seaside aquifer.
2. We need to protect the endangered steelhead and other endangered species in the Carmel Valley River basin.
3. Water recycling must contribute to the supply and health of our community in addition to further conservation efforts.

I have the leadership qualities and management skills to excel as a Trustee. I have had a long history of community service on the Monterey Peninsula. In 1984, the Directors of the Hospice of the Monterey Peninsula requested I become a member of the Board. Soon afterwards, I became Chair. I participated in the expansion and relocation of the Hospice to the Old Capital Tract in Monterey. I was appointed by the Board of Supervisors to the Monterey County Workforce Investment Board and currently serve as the Chairperson. In addition, I serve as a Trustee of the Monterey Wine Education foundation.

The current Water Board has made great efforts in working together to achieve solutions. If the makeup of the Board changes dramatically, we will certainly return to the old method of accomplishing nothing.

I would appreciate your vote and support for my campaign to move in the right direction!

Respectfully,
Bob Brower
